Everyone has their own definition of freedom.
For example the slaves in St. Domingue wanted equality for everyone But the
Slave owners (which would be the europeans-Whites) thought that only the riches should have equality because they have the
power. Slave owners would buy slaves every 3 years because thats the max time they survived. and the torture would begin. No
money earned, whipped and horrible living conditions.
In my opinion
No one truely has freedom except for the freedom of imagination
Ones freedom could be owning/torturing another
but that would be restricting the others freedom
Freedom is only for the ones who are rich enough to buy power.
the freedom in my world today is basically the freedom of speech
which really isn't freedom because if you wanted to say a negative about a police officer and he hears you. you could get
introuble. Laws restrict peoples freedom in every way.
Freedom is a huge problem in our world. It always has been. Most revolutions started because people were restricted from their
freedom
There are 4 main stages to a revolution according to Crane Brinton. The first step is the symptoms where problems start such as
.slaves being bought and forced to work in harsh conditions or economy problems and no one is doing anything about it
The second stage is the rising fever where the people actually fight against the leaders because they show no concerns to the problems.
The third stage (Crisis) is the worse because the leader is no longer capable of controlling and leading the country so the economy
becomes worse and the reign of terror occurs . that is when the people are out of control and kill in order to survive or to fix the
problem.
The last stage is Convalescence. that is when a strong central leader comes and fixes the problems so the country will stop all
the violence.
Most revolutions are started by restrictions of freedom but in Brinton's anatomy ,it shows that the revolution started because
the economy wasn't doing very well.
